Most ODB2 cars will not start if the ECT (engine coolant temp) is not connected or if its faulty. Check to see if there is voltage. Another thing that may cause a no start is an unhooked MAP (manifold absolute press) sensor. If these two items are properly connected then you might want to check to see if the car has spark. Use a long screwdriver and probe it in one of the spark plug wires and bring it close to the chassis about 1/4 of an inch away. If there is spark then you'll see a spark leap from the screwdriver onto the chassis of the car. (Be sure you don't get shocked).
Another thing that may cause a no start but the car cranks is a defective coil or igniter. For checking the coil you can use a simple test light with two wire leads on it. One of the leads you connect to a good ground. The other onto the positive side of the coil. As for the tip of the test light, touch it to the negitive side of the coil. (You'll need to remove the cap to do this test). The have somebody help you crank the engine. If the bulb on the test light lights up then the igniter is working properly. You can then make a conclusion that the coil is bad. But if the bulb on the test light does not light up then you have a bad igniter. You also would want to check the ignitier to see if its getting a signal from the ECM. If the igniter doesn't get a signal from the ECM then you have a bad ECM.
If there is spark coming from the spark plug wire, a spark from the coil, and signal from the ECM onto the igniter, then you would want to check to see if you have fuel. The easilies way to diagnose this is by removing the gas cap and have somebody turn the key to #2 (key on engine off - KOEO). You should hear a quick hiss from the fuel pump sucking in fuel. If you don't hear a hiss then re-do the test over again several times. By doing this test, you are trying to determine to see if the main relay is bad. If for some reason you do hear a hiss but it's not consistant then you're main relay is faulty. If you do not hear any hiss after performing this KOEO then there is a good chance your main relay is faulty.
There are other tests you can do. Hope this helps.
