But, I'm sure it's the exact same tire (ie. one part #), just mounted so the correct lettering is facing 'out', on the correct side of the car. Maybe these tires are different than the Potenza's?

It depends on the tire, if they're just Directional, then they are all the same, and left/right is determined by how it's mounted. If they're Directional and Asymetrical tires, then there are 2 different tires for each side.
