Because that's what makes them ride confortable. All the sport springs I know of are progressive like Eibach. Those closely spaced coils keeps it soft over small bumps, but the further spaced ones give you the firmness in a corner after you've compressed the close ones.

Most race springs are linear, but more harsh ride.

My H&R's are sport, (progressive) and I've never had the problem, but I have heard of it with some sport springs.
