I was wondering the same thing about why they decided to go with their design for air filters. It could very well be that they didn't want to outsource the filter and made their own filter to raise profits.

And you know, I also don't think AEM made V2 because of some revolutionary design in intakes. It IS about getting more sales and creating buzz to get recognition. But I also do think the new intake can make the most power/torque vs. other intakes on the market. Would I get one? Probably not until my current AEM CAI goes bad or if the V2 has been dynoed by somebody to produce much more HP. But for people without an aftermarket intake system, they should hold off on purchasing one until they see what the V2 can do for them.
