Hey guys I'm putting together a version of the camera mount which can be found on the net for Civics. Basically all you need:
1"x1" box Aluminum
6 #10-24 x 2-1/2" round head Zinc screws with nuts
#10 locking washers
electric tape
bolt for your camera/video camera
box aluminum caps (so you don't cut yourself)
hacksaw
3-4" drill to drill through the aluminum
I purchased a 9' long box aluminum and cut it to 32" for two bars. Wrapped them together with electric tape at about 5 places. Drilled 6 times and connect the bars using the Zinc screws, nuts, and lock washers. Then I measured where the head posts were and drilled those out. So now the bar rests with the head posts and the camera will go in between both headrests.
I'll get pics up soon.
I modified the ideas at this site:
http://madstatic.com/2k1civic/diy/cameramount/ Instead of just one bar my bar spans across both seats making it more rigid. This mount can be bouncy. Also using tether strap and bungee cords to keep it planted
Check your local rules for this to be legal though.
