most likely its running rich cause when the coolant sensor tells the ecu that the engine is cold the ecu send out a richer mix to warm the engine faster, only problem is that if you already are running rich on the bottom end its gonna be exactly like what you said. my car has the same problem but only does this in the winter time also. then when the car is warmed up it runs fine. go figure.
