i'd be very careful if i were you, especially trying to put intakes on old cars. i tried to put an intake on a 93 ford tempo and the engine light turned on and the car gave up on me during the drive...so it's back to stock...well, now it's probably in a junkyard.
i think if you just bought the designated intake for your car from AEM, Injen, or any of those reputable companies, they should all fit correctly and just clamp on, but dont take my word for it because i have yet to work on cars with carburetors.
