I my self had first hand experiance with driving and helping with an h22a swap into a 97 dx hatchback. The gains were excelent in my opinion. and you dont spedn a grip of money compensating for it. a normal susp upgrade is in order. but that should happen anywasy if your going to be lowering. Skunk2 with a higher rate and agx is what was installed along with a skunk2 rear anti-sway bar and 99 si front bar with hcp 4 point mount. There was not a huge difference in handling. it actually was pretty good im my opinion. So many people post on this topic on other boards without actual experiance so it distorts the information so badly. Do the swap its not bad at all. great power gains. The thing is you may come out with similar HP between an h22 and a b18c but the tourqe is different along with the power band.
OK I concede on this point then.
I have driven as well as ridden in 5 different H22 Civ swaps and in a couple the handling was good (could always be better in all cars regardless) but those had some extensive mods to suspension.
The 2 that were stock suspension handled like ass (diving in corners and some excessive bounce).
I was told by one of the owners of the swaps that his upgrades on suspension were out of neccesity since he drives daily on it.
My info appears to have been wrong in that aspect and I bow to the correction.
