For a stock CRX or Civic sure. But the more power you get the more you will want braking, and tons of braking in the front and little in the back isn't going to be good for handling. Discs are more resistant to fade and cool down easier since they are exposed.
Also maintanance is a million times easier, I can change brake pads or discs in about 10 minutes, not so with drum brakes. So if you race you will want this since you go through pads a lot faster.
