What's with everyone jumping on the main relay thing lately. Blame it on the main relay!

A main relay will normally only keep the car from starting, and only in hot conditions. Other than that, a relay is just a set of switches, so the car with run, or not run. That's it.
Back on topic, if the gasket has any leaks, it can definitely make the car idle higher. Check the idle adjust, and one other thing to try would be to take your tps off and throw it on the old throttle body...
