I'm honestly not too sure what to do. I guess I would try get someone to make damn sure that snap ring/c-clip is out while you put some pressure on it to separate. You're transmission might be a little different than mine so make sure all the bolts and clips are out that need to be. You might also try tapping it with a hammer in the area where it's binding. Not a full swing or anything just a gentle tap to hopefully break loose any debris that might be interfering.

If I was in your shoes and all that didn't work and I was sure all of the bolts/clips were out I would resort to brute force. I would be careful to not damage the edges of the housing where it seals or the shafts and pry it apart. I'm not going to recommend that though because that is a last resort and pretty much guarantees you will be replacing a lot of parts and could in render the transmission unusable.

Instead I'm going to suggest continuing to look it over for anything holding it together and gently trying to separate it. Take a break every now and then possibly leave it alone for a day or two if need be. Often times the solution will jump out at you. Remember slow and steady wins the race.
