There are two medical schools I'm very interested in, and have a good shot of an acceptance. One is outside of Sarasota and the other is in Ft. Lauderdale. Sure, I could google this, but this site's circling the drain as it is so I figured I'd keep the conversation going.
Cost of living varies throughout the state. Southeast Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach) all have pretty high costs of living. I say this having moved from Philadelphia, and not really noticing a big difference in housing prices, food costs, etc. Once you move north (Martin County, St. Lucie County, etc), the cost of living is much lower -- but you are further away from core business areas. I am not too familiar with the West Coast, but it is generally less expensive and quieter. What you save on living costs, you make up for with limited career opportunities. However, being in healthcare you will likely find a job.
The good thing about Florida is there are no State or Local income taxes.
