Doesn't the owner's manual have a description of what the various warning lights mean?

Just looked it up. TPMS says: U.S. models only
This indicator normally comes on for
a few seconds when you turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position.
If this indicator comes on and stays
on at any other time, or if it does not
come on when you turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position, there
is a problem with the TPMS. With
this indicator on, the low tire
pressure indicator will not come on
when a tire loses pressure. Take the
vehicle to your dealer to have the
system checked.

So you might want to have the system checked.

I actually like the TPMS lights. Yes they can be a pain if they are overly sensitive (as my wife's Impreza seems to be in cold weather), but they've also saved me a few times. I had the Xterra on a trail, and the TPMS light warned me that I'd punctured a tire long before I would have known myself. Also on a road trip got notified nice and early that I was down some psi, and was able to top off at a gas station and presumably get some mpgs back.
