I have just seen my first SRS light after 12 years of use (Accord V6 Coupe) and 280 000 km. Needless to say I am not pleased. Thanks to one of you I have managed to read the DTC which is 5-8. (ODB2 socket - short pin 9 to Gnd) My google searches concluded that the fix is to replace the SRS module. At this point I have proceeded to reset the code using the manual method - shorting wires on the plug as described by k67p67 on one of the honda forums. (don't know if I can paste the link here). Ma current thinking is that this code may be set by a voltage spike which may happen again after the next 12 years...
So far the code has cleared and the light is back to normal! I will advise if and when this changes.
Does anybody know what exactly triggers the 5-8 SRS DTC ?
