I think most of the peeps that say altezzas are gay, are either followers or they had altezzas themselves but when the price dropped on them and everyone started getting them, suddenly they're only for ricers now.
There are an alarmingly number of guys I know who used to have altezzas, ditched them, and now call them ghey for the same reasons you quoted above. The sad part is most of these guys don't like altezzas to begin with; they bought and installed them for the sole purpose of making their car look different than stock. Pretty weak if you ask me.
