im looking for an all weather, as in dry/wet. it obviously doesnt snow here. so would the AVIDs still be good? i need them to last a while but i still want grip for going to the track and i dont drive adverage on the street at all. im more aggressive. still good?
I think you should go with the 712's. They are just fine in the rain. Get the shop you order/purchase from to match Tirerack's price. America's Tire Co (related to Discount Tire) price matches.
If you want to go with the AVIDs they'll be ok but I have a feeling they won't be on par with the Kumhos. When they say all-season, they mean that you can limp around in very light snow. They're not as good as snow tires and not as good as dry performance tires; you're compromising on all levels. BUT, I have no firsthand experience with the AVIDs so you can dismiss what I say.
EDIT: I noticed the AVS ES100 is the same price. I don't know how good they are in the rain, but those don't seem too shabby...
