My brother and I also took out the upstairs wood stove, which made the living room a gajillion times more spacious and practical. I gave the stove to one of my clients as a closing gift, tax writeoff ftw. No destruction photos (it was quite a mess). But here's a before and after:

You can see from the bare wood floor where the wood stove was. The whole living room is actually oriented towards the TV with a big sectional couch. We just kept that gray couch where it was because the cat loves it and it keeps her off the rest of the furniture.
