Bad alignment, misconfigured suspension (lower springs on worn shocks), or just plain blown shocks can cause slippage too.

Don't take it lightly, worn suspensions reduce your car's responsiveness significantly! Before I installed my suspension, my car was lowered with Sprint springs and really worn (probably blown) stock shocks. I would accelerate hard on a turn and basically can't keep myself on the lane I wanted to end up in...instead would kinda "drift" to the further lane. NOT A GOOD THING!
