We mentioned last week that Honda had a bevy of hot CR-Z hybrids at their stand during the SEMA show, including a pair from the Honda Performance Development, Inc. (HPD) division. In a separate post, we also told you Mission Motors was launching a high performance components division called MissionEVT. Turns out, these two items were intimately related. An eagle-eyed reader tipped us off that one of the things that made this pair of these performance-oriented Honda machines so, well, performance oriented, was the presence of some carbon fiber-covered tech from a certain San Francisco-based company.

According to Honda, with the help of "...a turbocharger and upgraded IMA hybrid system," the modded drivetrain puts out an estimated combined 200 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Upgraded IMA, indeed. The stock version we drove, if you need a reminder, is good for 122 hp at 6,000 RPM and 128 lb-ft with the six-speed manual. Now, we don't know how much the MissionEVT bits contributed to this rise, or even exactly which bits were involved. We can only say we're glad to see Mission Motors bringing in some revenue from sales and getting this opportunity to prove themselves..

While there are no announced plans to sell either of the two versions with the tricked-out powertrain, we should be able to see a couple copies of the HPD CR-Z Racer in action at the upcoming 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race. Thanks to Jerry for the tip!
