Though, generally I only wash like this whilst preparing food or if I know someone around me is sick (they'll get a cold, I'll get a month+ long sinus infection).
While not being quite contradictory, I dislike when people are sick and they don't wash their hands religiously. To me it's a common courtesy to the people around you, esp if they have to share a good amount of things.
