just got done reassembling my laptop, the other day the wifi stopped working out ofthe blue. tried everything software i could think of so i took it apart today at work, reseated the wifi adapter and checked the antenna cables. turned back on and it's picking up networks again so looks to be fixed woohoo
best way to troubleshoot this is to stick an Ubuntu live CD in. If it does not see the hardware, it is a hardware problem, if it does, then it is a software problem on the windows side.
Takes about 3 minutes to find out, and no changes to your system.
