The EX500 is the lowest I would go for a baby sportbike and even that is too light and underpowered to do much damage.
Buy a cheap 600 (CBR, Ninja etc.)
I wouldn't waste my money on less than a 600 for learning on.

I learned on a Ninja 250. They are small, lightweight, easy to maneuver, and are fairly quick for what they are (as far as small bikes go,
I think they run like 14.5 or something in the 1/4 mile). :dunno:
And we're talking about Marshy here.
Not to mention they get ridiculous gas milage.
