If you bored a stock B20 sleeve out to 2.2L, that would mean an 88mm bore, which would leave the sleeves extremely thin. Contrary to popular belief, B20 sleeves aren't much stronger than other B series sleeves, if at all. If you bore a stock B20 sleeve to 88mm, you're asking for trouble. If you want it to be "bulletproof", I don't see how you're going to achieve that without new sleeves.
