Since then it has died a few more times but always restarts when you declutch and turn the key.

Fuel filter has been replaced but that was a few years ago. The cat isn't plugged as I just had the exhaust off to repair that flange and checked it out for curiosity's sake just a few weeks ago. Tach doesn't bounce that I've noticed, just drops to zero.

I have noticed that it has been hard to start lately on cold days and after running for short periods of time. I'm guessing that either like the pickup in the distributor is dying or the fuel pump is getting ready to crap out. I haven't had time to look into the matter any further.
