If he had actual sympathy for the individual people who are going through tremendous struggles, I don't doubt it. If he backed up his position about the Haitian government being corrupt as well, I doubt this would be a big story. The problem is, he's blaming the people, who are dirt poor, for infrastructure issues that are well beyond the scope of their lives. Poor people don't have the means or the knowledge to be able to build solid buildings able to withstand earthquakes. Yet, in his diatribe, he's not distinguishing between those who have the power/ability to do something about it (Haitian government) and those who don't (poor people).
