I think the answer depends on how long you intend to keep the car and how often you wash it in the winter.

I had the lifetime warranty stuff done at the dealer, it is cheaper (after about 3 years) but I still have some minor rust form on the swaybars, springs and control arms.

I would recommend annual rustproofing if you really want to keep the car rust free and intend to keep the car beyond 5 years otherwise you could spend that money on performance improvements such as better shocks or tires.

Crown is recommended by CAA and runs about $CAN100/year. However, lots of places have cheaper versions such as at fast oil change places (Mr. Lube, Pennzoil, Speedy, etc.).
