if its just to charge the ipod, you can go out of spec and use a bunch of usb extension cords for power... but data will probably fail.
incorrect and I was also wrong.
max length spec never changed between 1.x and 2.0. they are both 5M.
also i wouldn't go beyond 5M even to charge. main reason being it wont charge properly since it's a max of 500mA and that's a long distance to travel already.
hey john if you want I have an extra wall plug to usb converter I can send you. it's wall plug on one end and usb port on the other. you can plug it into any wall socket and simply use the supplied cable for the ipod to charge. let me know.
