product placement has been around forever. This is not a new phenomenon. Besides, I don't see why its a big deal. We see products every where we go and whatever we do, so why is seeing it on a the movie screen so taboo? Are people in movies limited to using generic products because we don't want to feel like we're being pushed to buy a product?
I think its even weirder when you watch shows that use generic products because it stands out as even weirder than just using a name brand product. For example, if a character is drinking a can "Cola", its weird and funny. If they're drinking a coke, who cares, everyone drinks coke, real world or not.
