The AFC splices into your ECM harness, tapping some wires and bypassing others. You can change settings on the fly via the control buttons. You will need to tune it on a dyno to find the right settings for your application. You'll do more harm than good if you just drop your VTEC engagement point and expect it to work well. If all you have is an intake, it might not be worth the dyno time just to tune for that.
