I still think these should have been released separately since there are entirely different games. But then again, ODST would have probably flopped like Halo Wars.
All agreed.
If you wanted to do an ODST matchmaking (vs mode), it's nothing more than Halo 3. I'm sure Bungie tossed around the idea, but it'd be crazy supporting 2 nearly identical games.
Also, having an ODST fight would suck ass. Without regenerating health, the strategy / fun of Halo would die. It's turn into a duck and cover / hunker down / camp fest.

From my understanding, there will be a separate playlist for anyone wanting to play the new maps. All current playlists will not require the latest and greatest.
If you happen to be in a playlist outside of the special, separate one ... and ALL players happen to have the newest maps, it will come up. The system is smart enough to recognize what everyone does and does not have.

Noooooo. Same H3 system behind the disc.

Matchmaking is a science. There's all kinds of rules to find partners and match opponents.
Your opponent is the computer, so there's not really much skill wise to find in a pre-game matchmaking hopper. If your party is jammed with noobs, set the difficulty to easy. If you're with 4 L50 generals, set it to legendary.
There's really no need for random players being paired with ya, unless you have no XBL friends.

Reach = the story before Halo 1: Combat Evolved. It'll be loosely adapted from the Halo paperback book, "The Fall of Reach".
This one is being billed as "the big one".
Not to spoil anything ...
[spoilers=do not read]ODST sets up for a sequel. Do not skip the ending credits. [/spoiler]
