respect is earned, not given simply because you're the president ... especially when almost half the population don't approve of your job so far and its only been six months ... doesnt sound like a great way to earn respect imo.
That's what's known as missing the point. The House of Representatives operates under a set of rules, one of which is that no one interrupts someone who is speaking, another of which is that the Speaker of the House must recognize a person before he/she can speak, and another of which is that respect to others in the chamber is given at all times, whether they're speaking or not. Those rules do not suddenly disappear just because the president is speaking, and certainly not because some poll says he's not popular. The House (and the Senate) are probably the last bastions of politeness and civility (each side of Congress has a parliamentarian, whose job is to enforce the chambers' rules), and letting Mr. You Lie get away with it would make him and them no better than the bloviating talk-show hosts whose primary attributes are a big mouth and an ego to match it. If Joe Wilson wants to have a news conference on the Capitol steps, in his office, or back in his home district, and call the president a liar in those venues, let him...but he needs to hold his tongue while he's in the House chamber.
