Pretty sure he blogged about his plans to do it too. That was preventable. There are always going to be psychopaths in the world. If he wanted to go on a killing spree, he didn't need to use a gun. Guns aren't the problem.
If he wanted to go on a killing spree inside a gym....a gun would have made the most sense. What better tool could you have?
