Yeah, the bottom portion can be removed by itself. Like someone mentioned above, there is a bolt between the cushions (top and bottom) where the seat belt buckles come through... the bolt is roughly centered I believe... take the bolt out (10mm) and the seat will "tilt" tward the front of the car... then there are 2 hook thingies at the front of the seat, you'll see how they come out from there.

It just takes a flashlight to find the bolt, and a 10mm socket with an extension to get it out... its really easier than you'd think.
