gdub sometimes really sucks on weekends going into the city and plus its pretty far away - lincoln tunnel would be better choice depending on time.
if he can get to the path relatively easily and park its easier and then he doesnt have to worry about driving around.

+1 if you staying in manhattan - no point in renting a car - plenty of cabs and mta takes you pretty much anywhere and everywhere.
