I towed my old GTi with a two-wheel tow dolly once.
The car had no motor and no interior at the time, so it was pretty damn light.

But since the dolly had no suspension, the sonofabitch would pogo-stick off the expansion joints at every section of elevated freeway.
Given the generally shitty roads and the narrow lanes, the max safe speed was about 45 mph.

If you're going more than about 20 miles, get a four-wheel trailer. And even then, mind your speed as you tow.
