Except we are not elected public servants. She ran for public office and is violating the trust of thousands of people who voted for her. A little different than "my boss is a dick and I don't get enough time off, I quit."

And the fact that she said her future is in public service (i.e. she plans for running for some other office). I agree with F22B, if you can't take the pressure in a role like that, call it quits for good and find another line of work.
