It is a risk we all take. The good way outweighs the risk for me personally. As for your statement I highlighted above, and to the old adage "it not a matter of if but when", thats bullshit. Ive been a biker and been around em for a LONG time (I did stop riding for a while because I was stupid aggressive). I knew more than a few that quit riding due to old age with no serious accident history. I firmly believe in the power of words and the mind. If you believe that that shit is going to happen to you, it will. Im not saying it wont but I sure as shit am not going to help it along by believing Im on some destined road to wreckdom.
