We disconnected now the mechanical choke (electric choke has been disabled the whole time) and now it idles low and rough when cold, and smooth and high as it warms up. There is a period where it idles perfectly before it reaches operating temperature, so something must be controlling it somewhere, gonna have to chase that down later on. However now the car runs like a raped ape under heavy throttle, it has very decent pickup and can reach full RPM in first and second gear. There is ocassional ping which I think is a timing issue but am still figuring out. I am going to keep posting just in case this benefits someone someday, and to keep a record of the changes haha. Cheers to the mighty old honda! We will see how the fuel economy is. She is still emitting quite a smelly exhaust.
