Day One Thread
Day Two Thread
Day Three Thread
I'm going to post my AAR at some point but with the "notes" that were taken I'm okay letting everything sink in for a few days and not having to worry about my memory dropping every fucking thing.
One thing I can say that I took from this class is that, 9 times out of 10, if you take a shot without the intention of following up you will blow the shot. the point is that if you look at the target, pull your finger off the trigger, etc your shots will move POI. make the shot, get back on the trigger and back on the front sight and get ready for the next shot.
he proved this to us by having several shooters make one shot then make two shots. he stopped them after the first of two shots and each time it was perfect, whereas the "one" shots were mostly blown.
Also, aim small hit small is fucking bullshit. aim for the center of the target and press the trigger. if you aim small you will fuck yourself.
one thing that made alot of guys realize that all this shit is fucking mental was a simple bottle drill. he pulled us back to about 19-20 yards and had us shoot at a 20oz water bottle. he told us, not to shoot the bottle but just to use it as a reference point. all 16 of us were within an 8 inch group at 20 yards. if you can hit within inches of a 4" target at 20 yards, there's no fucking reason why you can't center punch an ocular cavity at 7 yards.
also, the negatives fucked with alot of people until the "aim for the center of the target, etc" came into play. everyone (except one or two that knew the "trick") were hitting outside of the negative until he told us to aim in the middle of the "head" and not at the hole in the head. Once we knew that, only one or two shots were blown per person out of probably two or three strings.
good stuff, more details after this all sinks in.
If you're going to assess behind you, vary it and
LOOK. Don't just go through the motions. You might have a South African midget stuffing a blade into your face.
