South korea was willing to for obvious reasons
japan was simply because there was a risk of rocket debris hitting japanese soil and they were only placing units to protect that, the US was primarily a moniter and assist role for japan. they were prepared to shoot down but had no intention to. they were only watching where it went in case it went awry.
but you can clearly see both the US and Japan did NOT shoot it down and said it posed no threat and they let it be.
North Korea is the one escalating things, all by themselves ... and they do it knowingly and purposely. They are the ones who threatened to attack japan if it shot down the rocket (while japan only had interest in defending its territory and people), they are the ones who threatened to attack the US for simply being in the area if japan did such a thing, they are the ones who threaten south korean civilian aircraft.
Exacly... no one wanted to do anything about it and no one did. So why say something like the other countries arent doing shit about NK because they are pussy or lazy or afraid of the UN
then reason no one is doing anything is because nothing needs to be done at this point. The UN can continue to put additionnal pressure...
And yes no organisation is above corruption. I also agree that the UN is not respected by the it's members. And some of the permanent members should not be there. But ultimatly the UN is usefull. If the USA did not think it was usefull they would have left the league. But the USA also that benefits from the UN just like all the other countries. It has used it veto power more then any other permanent member to save it's alies.
