Where are all the people claiming Apple is playing catch-up from? :screwy: :loco: :nec: :cat:

When the iPhone first dropped, there was nothing available that was anything like it. Nothing had a gigantic touchscreen... just about the only phones out there with touchscreens were all Palm. Palm phones can copy/paste, but there's lots of things they suck at that will never get an OS update type of fix. iPhone owners could send emails for free from anywhere, and the only real challenger for phone-based email at the time was the Blackberry. Do you remember what a steaming turd the Blackberry was then? It wasn't even in color. Blackberries were $699 when they first came out. My Palm phone (Treo700p) was $650 new. The iPhone was not overpriced.

iPhone revolutionized the industry and that's inarguable. Look at the phones out there now. Everything has a color touchscreen. Many non-Apple phones now have visual voicemail. More phones have email capabilities, maps, media players, etc. There are non-Apple App Stores. There are lots of features and hardware improvements on other phones, and even with the networks themselves. All the phone manufacturers want a piece of the market that Apple has and it shows as they keep packing iPhone-like features into their product lineup. iPhone has been the best-selling phone for longer than any other phone, and will likely continue to be for a while still.

I carry a Treo700p, iPhone 3g and BlackBerry 8830 (hate the BlackBerry). Sometimes I wish life would let me have only one phone that would just ring, and that's all... but thanks to what I do, I'm a digital Stretch Armstrong. People are pulling at me from every kind of technology. iPhone haters either don't need it or can't afford it. I'll be content that it has copy/paste or MMS someday, but when it gets here, I'll just take it for granted like everyone else here already does about everything else.

CLIFFS: Apple raised the bar. Lots'a people with short memories. I have too many phones. Haters will be haters will be haters.
