it depends on the make of the watch. if it is anything less than a few hundred dollars then i say just find any watch repair store to get it fixed, but if you paid a fortune for it/swiss made stuff i would suggest finding a good watch store or jewelery store and pay decent money to get it done.

i had a problem similar to yours and i got it fixed for roughly $100 which also included other minor servicing, cleaning and polishing the whole thing.
