anyone know how the betrayal system works?

if you betray someone while they are shooting or being hit by others it doesn't give them the option to boot you? is that right?

cause this dude betrayed me twice yesterday, once in the back of our base on valhalla and a second time in the cave, i was fuckin with him h:

then i betrayed him later on in the game and he booted me! i never got the option to.
