I was looking at the brake pads on my car the other day and I noticed that the driver side front outer pad was worn pretty badly compared to the outer pad on the passenger front. Yesterday, I decided to rotate the tires and when the wheel was off, I pulled the caliper on the DF at noticed that the inner pad was worn, but not nearly as bad as the outer pad. I worked with my brother on his 97LS about 2 months ago on the rear pads on both the driver and passenger side of his car. His pads were worn pretty badly on both the driver and passenger side but were also worn unevenly. The pistons in the calipers were seized and both rear calipers had to be replaced. In my case, the piston on the DF caliper was easily depressed when I looked at it yesterday. I'm planning on replacing the stock rotors and pads with some ceramic pads and cryogenic rotors from TireRack pretty soon so I don't want to tear up new parts from something minor. I'm not sure if the uneven wear is due to the caliper bolts not being lubricated enough or what. I had the brake master cylinder replaced in May 2007 and I have since only put 5000 miles on the car. The brakes feel fine and the fluid was bled at the Acura dealership when the work was done. The car doesn't pull to either side under braking either. I've consulted my Haynes and Chilton manuals and neither have a troubleshooting scenario regarding uneven brake pad wear. My main reason for the replacement is asthetics and performance. I'm pretty sure the rotors on the car are the original parts and they're in ill repair. They have several hot spots on both front rotors. There is a slight pulsation when the brakes are applied moderately to heavy at faster speeds. Sorry for the long post. Any thoughts or comments are always appreciated!
