Default Re-using ATF(filtered)

Yeah I know, the title sounds horrible but hear me out!!

Being on a student budget sucks. And with the price of everything going up,... it really sucks. Turns out I need to change my ATF fluid, bad.
And being $7.50 a quart for Honda ATF.... a flush is out of the question.

I'm thinking about:
1. Draining and collecting the fluid.
2. Filter out crud (coffee filters, cotton balls, maybe gravel. 5th grade science stuff)
3. Reuse add ATF
4. Run an errand or two. Maybe grab lunch, to mix the fluid from the torque converter.
5. Drain fluid.
6. Refill with new fluid.

Just trying to get all the crap out before I add new fluids.

Anything wrong with this? Anyone have anything against this? Anything will be useful, anything at all.
