stop the leak. the coolant system needs to be sealed off from the atmosphere so the boiling point can be higher inside the coolant system. if there's a leak, the coolant's boiling point will be too low and the car will get too hot.

run a coolant system pressure test. if it doesnt hold pressure at around 1 BAR, then you've got a leak that needs to be corrected.
