The EGR valve going bad won't cause tapping. (Exhaust gas recirculation valve) Balancer Shaft? Harmonic Balancer perhaps, again no.
Sound like valve lash. Get the valve clearances checked out, IMO that's what it sounds like the problem is.
Good luck with it man, but I must say for that many miles on that year of honda a little valve tap is not uncommon.
