57k Mile Service - Help?
Hi everyone,
I have a 04 Honda Accord (the V-6 version - I can't remember the model off the top of my head), and I last had the car serviced at 53,000 miles. However, the sticker they gave me at the time said the next service should be at 57,000 miles - but I'm currently at 58,000. Like an idiot I forgot about the service, and just now remembered. Unfortunately, though, I'm going to be too busy to get the car serviced until about 10 days from now.
I'm a car moron, and I think my question is probably laughably lame to everyone here who know so much, but here it goes: is the car still safe to drive 1,000 miles over the recommended service? The reason I ask is because they said that the 58,000 service is the "big one" that's $450, so I'm thinking putting it off for too long could be risky (?) I also hear my brakes squeak slightly off and on now, though not too loudly - it's faint right now.
The oil also hasn't been changed since the service at 53k. Would the safest bet be to just get a quick oil change between now and when 10 days have passed? Or is that overkill? Or am I pushing the car to the brink?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, and feel free to ridicule me for my devastating lack of any knowledge around any of this and how I'm either setting myself up for disaster of panicking over nothing. Thanks!
(BTW - I'm in Florida, if that has any bearing on things - maybe it's a factor brakes-wise as I'm not driving it in snow).
