I'm going to an historic fort this weekend w/ some ideas also and gonna do some shots of the S after I wash it in the AM. We'll see if any pan into good shots for this :hs:
I wouldn't get too close with the presets. If you really want to learn, use program auto (and note speed / aperture settings), and work your way to manual.
After you know which aperture settings do what, and how they relate with shutter speeds, jump down to either aperture priority mode, or shutter priority mode. after controlling each, and noting how they change the final image, jump to manual mode, and do it all yourself. great way to learn.
