I think I'm secure but right now, I feel as if its uncertain. My company announced a 2% lay off a few weeks back. All the people who were eligible for early retirement (53years of age+ and 8+years with the company) received offers to volunteer to be part of the 2%. They don't have to accept the offer and people who accepted the offer won't necessarily be let go if their role is important, it has to be approved.

Then come December 1st-2nd, we were told that staff will be cut involuntarily. The only departments "safe" are customer facing type roles like customer service, or a field service tech (cable guy).

My role is important however and its only myself and my slack coworker. If anyone went first I would think it would be him.
